August Service Project

August “1st Priorities” Service Project
School Clothing Drive

Beginning this year all Metro. students are required to wear “standard school attire”, which consists of white or navy blue collared shirts (or turtlenecks) and pants, shorts, capris , skorts, jumpers or skirts in black, blue or any shade of khaki. Every Metro. school is required to develop a clothes closet for indigent families and families that come in from other districts and need help getting started.

There are several ways to help with this service project:

• Donate used or new clothing – Shop at consignment sales, Dollar Market (on Nolensville Rd. across from Tusculum Elem.) or Wal-Mart, or any other clothing store. You can put these clothes in the bin in the foyer at church by August 12th.

and/ or

• Donate gift cards, or cash – Principals in Metro. have been given vouchers to use to buy clothes at certain stores at a discounted rate, so we would be able to make better use of our money by donating cash. There will be an envelope on the clipboard in class during the next few weeks if you wish to donate cash or gift cards. Please turn in money by August 12th.

Questions??? Contact Candie Bowen at 500-5738 or candiebowen@yahoo.com

Thank You for participating in

School time is starting up again, so we could gather school supplies for children that can't buy them. I also know that Metro Schools have a new dress code policy and we could get some clothes together for families that can't afford them.

Playdate at Owl Creek Park

Hey everyone!
We're going to meet at Owl Creek Park at 10:00 Tuesday
morning, the 24th, to play & eat lunch.

Directions: The park is located on Concord Rd between
Concord Pass and Chestnut Springs Road. It's about a
mile from where Concord Rd. dead ends into Nolensville
Rd.If you're coming from Nolensville the park will be
on your left. If you're coming from I-65 it will be on
your right just past a (white or black?) pickett
fence. There's a small sign that says Owl Creek Park,
but it's easy to miss, so be on the lookout!

Be sure to bring/wear sunscreen. There's a covered
picnic area where we can eat lunch or if it's too hot
we can go back to Brody's house & eat.
Also, if it's raining we can meet & play at Brody's
house.
Directions are below. Hope to see everyone Tues.
morning!
Candie

Directions to Brody's house:

Head south down Nolensville Rd.
Pass Nolensville Elem School (the old one),
Nolensville Church Of Christ & then go through the
small town of Nolensville.
Turn LEFT onto Rocky Fork Rd. by a pretty white
church.
Pass the ball park on your left & then turn LEFT onto
Newsome Ln. You will see/pass the big new Nolensville
Elem. School on the corner of Rocky Fork & Newsome.
Turn RIGHT into Ballenger Farms subdivision.
Turn LEFT onto Cowan Dr. My house is the 5th one on
the right (I think)- 762 Cowan, brick w/black
shutters.
